LOS ANGELES / November 4, 2024 – Actor Rob Lowe delivered a passionate speech on the steps of the Hall of Justice today, calling on voters to elect Nathan Hochman for Los Angeles County District Attorney and end four years of rising crime under the current D.A.

With more than 100 deputy district attorneys cheering him on, Lowe said he does not ordinarily get involved in politics, but felt a duty to advocate for change after seeing crime impact so many people and destroy the quality of life in Los Angeles County under D.A. George Gascon.

“Home burglaries. Car burglaries. Retail theft. Violent crime. We all know people who have become crime victims during these last four years. A close friend of mine’s 80-year-old mother was shot dead in her own home by an in-and-out of jail petty theft criminal,” Lowe said.

“Gascon recently told NPR that it can take years for policies like his to have a positive effect on crime. Let me hear if you’re tired of waiting!”

The crowd roared its approval at Lowe’s words.

Freddy Escobar, President of United Firefighters of Los Angeles City, said the choice on Tuesday is clear: “We need to get rid of George Gascon!”

Escobar said, “Assaults, shootings, stabbings – everything that you see has L.A. City firefighters and paramedics there to pick up the pieces and save lives in the aftermath. Our firefighters are tired of seeing the same repeat criminals victimizing the same innocent victims.”

Moments later, Hochman addressed the crowd and said it’s time for voters to usher in a new era of sensible, balanced prosecution policies by electing him District Attorney.

“Tomorrow is Election Day. It’s time for voters to ask if they feel as safe as they did four years ago, before George Gascon implemented blanket policies that greatly reduced the consequences for committing crime in our county,” Hochman said. “People I’ve talked to in every community, in every corner of this county are sick and tired of George Gascon’s failed social experiment. They’re ready for change and I cannot wait to serve them, to begin the healing, to make L.A. County safer. And the best way to do this is to let these prosecutors standing behind me do their jobs and enforce the law.”

Lowe described Hochman as “a man who will protect us and our families, putting law-abiding citizens first, and not the Menéndez brothers.”

Voters have until 8 p.m. this Tuesday, November 5 to cast their ballots – at an early voting center, at a ballot drop box, by mail or at their polling place on election day.
